It’s already Top5 for Leonardo Bonifazio in the 86th edition of the GP de Fourmies. The #OrangeBlue sprinter, stagliare of the team in this part of the season, reaches the fourth place at the end of a sprint race with great precision and speed and won by the German Ackermann. A podium only touched but that testifies the technical qualities of the 27 year old and his ability to run prestigious races.

Good test of the team leader Marco Canola who, after recovering from yesterday’s crash, tries to surprise everyone with a great action in the last kilometers.

Fourmies – 2 September 2018

The intense September of races of the #OrangeBlue team starts with two important placements in equally prestigious tests. In the Brussels Cycling Classic on Saturday afternoon, Juan Jose Lobato reaches the 5th place of the day. In the GP de Fourmies the team’s stagiaire is instead to surprise everyone. Leonardo Bonifazio, chosen by the #OrangeBlue team for this part of the season and his debut in the NIPPO Vini Fantini Europa Ovini jersey in this double races, conquers the 4th place after a sprint race at great speed and against the World Tour sprinters.

It is the stagiaire of the team Leonardo Bonifazio to gather the applause in the GP de Fourmies, winning a Top5 of absolute prestige and that starting at the best his adventure in #OrangeBlue jersey.

In a 205km race dedicated to the sprinters, however, there were not the twists and the numerous attacks by riders who tried to decide the fate of the race before the final sprint. Among these, the most dangerous action was scored by the team leader Marco Canola who, at less than 5km from the finish line, surprised everyone with a solitary action that led him to gain a fair advantage. The high speed with which the group ride, however, bring him to be reabsorbed at less than 3km from the arrival. From this moment onwards, the sprinters to play for the victory. Among these is the Ligurian Leonardo Bonifazio who, after taking perfectly the wheel of the leading pair formed by Pascal Ackermann and Arnaud Démare, crosses the finish line in fourth position.

This is the analysis of the Sports Director Alessandro Donati leading the #OrangeBlue in this double trip: “In the Brussels Cycling Classic we did the general rehearsals for the important races in September, we are finding the right mechanisms. The arrival made the protagonist change in the final, Lobato was to be the last man but he had to do the sprint and was good to be ready and collect the 5th place. At Fourmies, unfortunately the same problem was repeated, fall to minus 10, break the group with Ponzi and Lobato involved and cut off. Marco Canola then tries a great solo by instinct and instead Leonardo Bonifazio finds the right train of the FDJ by making a great sprint. The team is fine, we are very confident for the races that await us in Italy.”
