The Giro dell’Appennino will close a full week of Italian races for the #OrangeBlue team. Leading the team hunting for points worthy of the “Ciclismo Cup” 2018 Damiano Cunego, already winner of this race in two editions, and Ivan Santaromita, in good physical condition after the Tour of the Alps. The determination of Marco Canola, the freshness of Nicola Bagioli and Filippo Zaccanti and the grit of Marco Tizza and Hideto Nakane will be the reference point to obtain a great result.

It ends with the 79th edition of the Giro dell’Appennino, scheduled for Sunday, April 22, the Italian week of the #OrangeBlue team. Recover the energies of the tough Tour of the Alps, the riders of NIPPO Vini Fantini Europa Ovini will ride the historic Italian race valid for the Ciclismo Cup 2018. Among the riders of the Italian-Japanese team Damiano Cunego, already winner of this race in 2004 and 2011, which will receive the Appennino d’Oro 2018 award as a tribute to a splendid and long career.


There are 194 kilometers planned in the 79th edition of the Tour of the Appennino 2018. From Novi Ligure to Genoa the riders in the race will have to face a demanding stage characterized by the presence of 7 KOM, including the novelty of the 2018 route: the climb of Fraconalto.

7 #OrangeBlue riders in the line-up, many of them protagonists of the Tour of the Alps. Leading the Italian-Japanese team will be Damiano Cunego, winner of this race in 2004 and 2011 and in a good physical condition demonstrated in the last races. On the day before the race Damiano Cunego will receive the “Appennino d’Oro 2018” award, confirming the particular feeling that the rider has with this race and to give the organizers the opportunity to pay honor to his amazing and long career.

Next to the leader there will be, Ivan Santaromita, protagonist among his in the Tour of the Alps and Marco Canola, determined to reach important points for the final classification of the Ciclismo Cup 2018. Ready to be at the service of the team and try to be protagonists the young riders Marco Tizza, Filippo Zaccanti and Nicola Bagioli, green jersey at the Tirreno-Adriatico. The Japanese climber Hideto Nakane completes the roster.

Alongside the leaders, especially in the climb sections of the stage, we will have the young Nicola Bagioli and Filippo Zaccanti, as well as our Japanese climber Hideto Nakane. The determination of Tizza, already demonstrated in this start of the season, can be decisive for achieving our goal. It is a very important race for us because it assigns valuable points for the Ciclismo Cup, so we will try to do our best “.
