If the numbers do not tell everything, they are often the key to analyzing the true results of a season. Numbers that in 2018 tell of a season of constant growth, not of a single but of a collective and a team, a growth to be relived in 10 points (+1) that all lead in one direction: that of a 2019 of great satisfactions.
1) TOP 10 UCI EUROPE TOUR & ASIA TOUR.
The NIPPO Vini Fantini Europa Ovini team is the ninth Professional in Europe according to the official UCI Europe Tour ranking.
The Top 10 in the UCI Europe ranking, which involves all the Professional (and Continental) teams competing in the old continent, was an ambitious goal and declared by the team at the beginning of the season and was joined by the team, with a steady growth after 4 years, with a good 9th place finish. Among the other Italian excellent also the placement of the team Androni Giocattoli Sidermec (3rd), the 37th Bardiani, 45th the Wilier Triestina.
The European Top 10 makes the pair with the same result obtained also in the Asia Tour where the #OrangeBlue are the first of the Italian teams and the eighth overall team, reflecting in the results the double Italian-Japanese soul of the team.
2) 10 + 1 SEASONAL VICTORIES.
10 + 1 are the seasonal victories achieved by the team, 4 of which in Europe, one in Italy, in a season built on a calendar that aimed at qualitative and non-quantitative growth of the team. Eduard Grosu is the most successful athlete with the victories in Croatia, Romania and China. Very good also the young Italian rider Damiano Cima, with stage wins at the Tour of Xingtai and the Tour of China, as well as winner of the general classification at the Tour of Xingtai. Spaniard Juan Josè Lobato brought the team back to Italy in the Sabatini Cup and Alan Marangoni gave himself a fabulous career ending, adding a special +1 to the whole season.
3) THE VALUE OF THE TENTH.
The tenth victory, the most important and prestigious, that of the return to victory in Italy at the Coppa Sabatini, with a high level athlete relaunched by #OrangeBlue and today a leader of the 2019 roster with the importance of having fully recovered. A victory that Juan Josè Lobato, conquered in front of opponents of the highest level as Colbrelli, Moscon and the same Canola (respectively 2nd, 3rd and 4th).
4) 10 DAYS OF WORLD TOUR RACES IN ITALY.
Results and quality races are the basis of the top 10 in the UCI Europe Tour. There are 10 days of World Tour in Italy collected between Strade Bianche, Milano-Sanremo, Tirreno Adriatico and Il Lombardia.
5) 10 DAYS OF WORLD TOUR RACES IN EUROPE.
An Italian team but with an increasingly international perspective. To testify him not only the roster of the team composed of athletes of 4 nationalities, but from the same number of World Tour days of racing collected in Europe, the result of the participation in the Amstel Gold Race and the Tour de Suisse, where the NIPPO Vini Fantini Europa Ovini was the only Italian at the start of these last editions.
6) 10 DIFFERENT ATHLETES ON THE PODIUM.
The strength of the collective, is shown by the fact that when the team has been on the podium with many different riders (10) and making virtue victories. With Eduard Grosu and Nicola Bagioli, with both the Cima brothers in their first year as professionals, with the leaders Marco Canola and Juan Josè Lobato, with Marco Tizza and Leonardo Bonifazio, with Hideto Nakane and finally with Alan Marangoni.
7) 10 + 10 THE PODIUMS OF ITALIAN ATHLETES.
An international team, but with an Italian soul and a mission, to launch or re-launch Italian athletes. There are 20 times in which an Italian athlete has trod a knitted podium #OrangeBlue. 18 result of a victory or stage / overall placement achieved by Nicola Bagioli, Leonardo Bonifazio, Marco Canola, Imerio Cima, Damiano Cima, Marco Tizza and Alan Marangoni and 2 the result of victories in special classifications such as the classification of Best Climber of the Tirreno- Adriatico with Nicola Bagioli and the best young rider jersey of Imerio Cima at the Tour of Taihu Lake.
8) THE GROWTH OF JAPAN.
Hideto Nakane is a fixture of the Japanese national team, from the Asian Games to the world, but above all the growth in the ranking of nations puts Japan in the 32nd place, only two positions from the 30th that would guarantee Japan to compete with 3 athletes at the start (instead of 1) in international competitions such as World Cup and above all, in view of Tokyo 2020, Olympic Games.
9) NATIONAL RIDERS
At least one #OrangeBlue athlete has represented his national team in all international competitions of the year. What was the mission of the team in view of Tokyo 2020 is being fully realized as early as 2018. The Europeans in July saw Marco Canola collaborate on the achievement of a great victory won by Italy with Trentin. The same European was also present Juan Josè Lobato with the Spanish selection and called, but injured, Eduard Grosu with Romania. The Japanese climber Hideto Nakane represented the team at the Asian Games with an excellent 5th place finish, which also earned him the call (in the only place reserved for a Japanese athlete) at the World Championships in Innsbruck.
10) HAMMER SERIES, 10 + 2 = 1 °
Because if the cycling classics are “sacred” and the top 10 among the Professional in Europe, in the cradle of the cycling of the Old Continent was a great goal of the team, the NIPPO Vini Fantini also looks to the future.
In 2018 the #OrangeBlue are the best Professional team in the most innovative competition in the world, where the ranking is team, where a collective is awarded, and not an individual winner. With a 12th place in the world, ahead of many World Tours, the NIPPO Vini Fantini Europa Ovini is first among the Professional.
10 + 1. THE FAIRY OF ALAN MARANGONI.
10 years of professionalism, many of them in the World Tour, all by “gregario”, working for great champions like Peter Sagan. 10 years as supporting riders + 1 day as main character. The last of his career, where he gave himself the happy ending worthy of the best fairy tales. For what is not the eleventh seasonal win of the team but the tenth +1. Because it is a story in itself, the human side of cycling and the #OrangeBlue team, where everyone has at least one chance to rewrite their story.
