The young Italian climber of the NIPPO Vini Fantini Europa Ovini team at his first year among the PROs and at his first World Competition of the career is now the KOM leader of the Tour de Suisse.

After the best climber jersey won in Tirreno-Adriatico by Nicola Bagioli, now it is time for another young Italian talent launched in professionalism by the Italian-Japanese team. Filippo Zaccanti is the new blue jersey of the Tour de Suisse, after the second stage of a World Tour level race. Great satisfaction for the young Italian climber that, in fact, at his first stage in a World Tour race, immediately showed great desire to emerge.

The project of the NIPPO Vini Fantini Europa Ovini team since from the very first year is to grow up young Italian and Japanese talents making them compare with the great cycling in many of the best races in the world. The #OrangeBlue team have a roster consisting of 25% of riders in the first year of professionalism and with almost 40% of riders in the first two years of professionalism (7 out of 19). The first goal of the team is precisely the growth of these young talents with method and constancy.

Today first stage in line, the second overall of this Tour de Suisse that sees at the start all the World Tour squads and only 3 Professional teams including the NIPPO Vini Fantini Europa Ovini. Shortly after the km0 starts the attempt to escape the day, initially composed of 3 athletes Zaccanti, Quemeneur and Watson then reached also by Michael Albasini. The young Italian climber in 1995 passed first on all 3 GPM, thus achieving the leadership of the special GPM ranking that in a competition like the Tour de Suisse is even more prestigious.

For the neo-pro #OrangeBlue it is the first special shirt, even if partial, in the career. He could not choose the best stage to do so, with a wonderful public looking at the race and in the most prestigious World Tour stage race of the year for the Italo-Japanese team.

The Sports Director Valerio Tebaldi is satisfied: “To be in the breakaway of the day was our first goal of this Tour, and to be in with one of our young climbers was very nice. Zaccanti was able to conquer the 3 goals of the day wearing this prestigious shirt. The race is still long but in the meantime today we have achieved a very good goal. Also good Ivan Santaromita that when the race become selective remained in the group of the best riders in the race. “

Also satisfied the young athlete #OrangeBlue: “I’m happy to have reached the goal of the breakaway. The first GPM was the hardest to conquer, we all absolutely wanted to win it. Also in the following one there was a battle but I felt stronger and safer after having conquered the first. After all, it was my first stage in line in a World Tour stage race after yesterday’s time trial.”
